Another SUFC related film reference?

fbm

Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
For those who don't know, there are several SUFC connections in the film "Mike Bassett - England Manager".

I may have spotted another in the film "Mean Machine" starring Vinnie Jones.

The prison governor in that film (played by actor David Hemmings) who trys to fix the match is an absolute dead ringer for Vic Jobson.  So much so I really thought it was him... except that it couldn't be because the film was made after he died.

Andy Ansah moved into film and media after he stopped playing football and although there was no specific credit to him personally I remember him saying tht he was now a major adviser to film directors and producers on all football related matters in a number of films, so maybe he had some input in this one.

It was uncanny though.

Blimey, have things got so quiet that I'm reduced to posting this??

Well the ending in Mike Bassett was actually filmed at southend airport and theres SUFC on one of the england flags.

Harchester Utd (dream team) also played us in a make believe friendly a while back when Clyde Connelly was being an arsehole.

and not forgetting a few years back, when Roots hall featured in a Norwich Union advert.

IIRC the girl in the add was wearing a Southend top too.

correct - she was wearing the Rossco 'Millenium Season' shirt with Bowie's 'Heroes' playing over the top!

In other news - Simon Stinks

Well if you danced round 4 players on a 5 aside pitch all game then unselvishly set up team mates on the edge of the D I'm bound to stink a little unlike goal hangers, (no names mentioned)
