Another shop that needs closing down !!

Now I know that you cannot believe a thing that you read in there but... in tonights Echo (on page 6) there is a interview with the owner of an appliance shop in Victoria Avenue. The jist of the story is that he is prepared to move his business but the offer he has had is below what he considers market value. He is a life-long SUFC fan and knows all about Ron's blog, so that should help matters!! Apparently the shop and flat owners have formed a consortium - well we know how much RM loves them !!

Maybe someone could do a link to the feature, oh and don't blame Chris Phillips this is done by someone else.

If it is the appliance shop, they own 3 businesses in the parade so must be due a good few bob. Next Ronald will be telling fans not to buy washing machines there and to wear filthy clothes.
It just gets better by the minute, are all the shop-keepers being shafted I wonder ?

The owner said "the group was given a verbal offer of 1.3 million for the block".

How many shops are there in that block?? they have all got flats above them as well.

Apparently as Ron has bid over £1m he gets the Indian thrown in for free, buy only if he collects

Another shop which should stand it's ground and not be bullied by the 3 foot pathetic little blonde chap.

How dare Ron try and negotiate a business deal. He should offer them £1m each without hesitation as an opener and go up from there.

Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

:headbang:

The Appliance shop is a god send. I have been there on nemerous occasions for Grill elements, oven elements, belts for Vacuum cleaners etc. They are a good business but I hope they don't dry and hold Ron to ransom.

I have every sympathy for these shop owners, who would have built up a loyal client base over the years. Being 'moved' to another location would scare the life out of the without ADEQUATE compensation on top of market value plus 10%. We dont really know the figures tho do we?

Indeed... Anybody would think that RM is pillaging local businesses with swathes of an axe, raping and burning anyone that crosses his path.

If the business owner doesn't agree with the offer, it's probably wise for him to talk to a solicitor. Any offer that is recieved directly from RM will be a damn sight more than what will be listed in a CPO and, while it is in no way preferrable given the time contraints, whatever happens RM is getting hold of the lot at some point in the future.

Am I missing something?

If the land surrounding RH is so important to the redevelopment, then

a. Why are we/RM buying it, only to sell on?

b. Why didn't we buy it, or try to buy it, ages ago?

a. I'm guessing that Sainsbury's will release the finances when a complete site is available, putting the onus on us to sort the issues out.

b. The original plan was that we would be contructing Fossett's Farm before work started on Roots Hall, and that finances from the retail outlet rentals/purchases would fund this part of the development. Due to the banking crash, RM had to reorganise the financing and practically reversed the build. The areas surrounding Roots Hall will be demolished and built upon first, releasing money from Sainsbury's which will be used to start the construction at FF.

With amendments to FF made recently (Casino, Gym) and final planning permission granted in November (?), It would've been stupid to start purchasing the land beforehand.

Some of the businesses from York Road market have moved and Gumbis appears to be flourishing.

Does anyone know if these were paid compensation?

I can't help but think that the 'consortium of Essex businessmen' would have had everybody out by now.

From what I had read I was under the impression that the pizza places were the very very very last places that hadn't signed or agreed to sign.

what have I missed ?
