Another question to do with Internet

2 months ago, me and my housemates decided to get a router for us to have wireless internet as were not allowed wires in the house. We got the Belkin 125, as it was designed to be able to provide quick and reliable covered for the four of us in the house and it covers up to 300 metres.

Everyone else in the house has decent coverage and can get above 80mbps speed, but I can only get about 11mbps max and it keeps on cutting off. When I do try to re-connect, it takes me about 20 mins to do so, and it seems that I can pick up another wireless system from somewhere. I'm totally against wireless anyway, but Im just wondering why this is happening to my computer but not everyone else's and how I can prevent it from happening all the time? Should I get a bigger aerial or do something else?

You must have a cable somewhere!

You will almost certainly find 300m is the theoretical maximum outside.

Off the top of my head 11Mbs sounds like the limit of the old wireless b protocol. Check your card can handle the newer g protocol.

I may be talking complete crap because I have been drinking. From the odd pm exchange I would imagine that Bob Cratchett is the man to speak to.

On an unrelted matter if Bob C is reading this I have a question regarding wireless networks regarding static IP adresses.

Cheers.

The card can handle it, because it's also a network card from Belkin to support the 125. I've installed it properly onto my computer and fixed it to the inside of the hard drive box properly too.

I dunno, but it's really annoying me.
