Should keep the guys on BBC Essex happy

FWIW , I thought Clarke was a real handful for our defence up at Wolves last year, we struggled to cope with him physically and his 2nd goal was quality . No wonder T+B have been admirers .

Wonder how they found out he was available ? Perhaps McCarthy had an 'inside track'

Hope this is not another Paynter syndrome where Tilly has been blinded by one good goal scored against us at some stage in the distant past!

Even if it is 'Paynter syndrome' it doesn't really matter as we haven't spent any money on transfer fees for the lad.

Absolutely - I've only seen him play in the Wolves game last year and he looked fairly good in that one. Just hope the fans don't get on his back when he doesn't score after 10 seconds of his debut... :p

Yes agreed. He doesn't sound like the kind of player who will make an instant big impression à la Freddy which at Southend will always leave him open to abuse from the boo boys.
