From the BBC

Leeds have revealed former England midfielder Nick Barmby is set to sign for League One side Hull City.
Leeds have agreed to release the 30-year-old from his contract and he is expected to begin training at Hull on Wednesday while a deal is sorted out.

"We're very close with Nick, he's very keen and hopefully we can get things sorted," said Hull boss Peter Taylor.

"He is still a Premiership player. Nick has got the bit between his teeth and wants to take us to the next level."

Barmby played in THAT game against Germany on September 1st 2001. This year, he'll be playing with Leon Cort.

IIRC I think Hull is Barmby's hometown club.

You would say "how the mighty have fallen" but Hull are probably in a better financial position then Leeds.

Isn't it ironic that the only club Peter was not successful at was SUFC [can't recall any others where he bombed - anyone?

Also the fact he got a lovely £1m pay off from Leeds and is without doubt Hulls biggest earner means its not exactly a bad move for the guy.

Hull is barmby's home town, and for the last 4 months of last season he used to go to all their home games, whilst getting paid a hefty wage still by leeds... it's alright for some eh!!!

yes, I was sure Leicester was in there somewhere... but I couldn't be bothered to check

Generally though, his track record has been pretty good. Maybe, we'll have him back as assistant to Tilly some time?

He's been given the Number 8 shirt, and Cort's got Number 5
