After getting up yesterday morning i was counting down the time until i would get to roots hall, i couldn't wait for kick off !
I reached the stadium and was slightly suprised that a vast amount of Col U fans had already flocked into the stadium at an early stage, this added to the atmosphere and it was only a matter of time until we joined in with the banter.
As always "turtle" provided us with his beachballs (top man) and we all had a laugh with them hitting them high into the air, this was like a carnival day !
Anyway.... The match got underway and i was quickly impressed with a few players, mostly sufc's including Barrett (as always) Gutteridge, Gray (different class this year) & Maher.
Then with less than 10 mins on the clock Goater showed us his experience and scored what was a great goal, strength, power and a deadly finish into the top left corner, the roots hall roar was deafening so loud that my friend heard it from his house near Waitrose. Everyone went mad and i lost my full sprite bottle in the air getting covered in the process but i wasn't complaining !!
The game then slowed down slightly and Stockley began to seriously annoy everyone in the west stand, kissing his page, blowing us kisses, hitting his arse and saying kiss it, it was only a matter of time until something happened as we was all getting seriously wound up !!
The the dreaded moment, Col U scored what was (hate to say it) a great low drive into the bottom left corner of the goal past our superb No 1 (he played a total blinder "yet" again) but who scored ? yep you guessed it Stockely !!
The game then got going and the Southend fans kept singing, Mitchell Cole (very low on confidence) scored a "superb" individual goal, half time arrived (not too bad) 2-1
2nd half got going and Stockley was then on the East stand side, the game started to get stretched, Guttridge missed a sitter, Williams for Col U hit the bar, Flahaven pulled off some super saves and then we smacked the bar.
Then the moment arrived, Goater pulled forward and then darted off, Bently produced a superb "Beckham style" drive towards him and Goater made it and looped it over the keeper into the net, i hadn't heard noise like it since the old North bank days back in the late 80's early 90's
the crowd went wild, it was party time, Tillson whats the score ? Darryl whats the score ? & best of all "Stockley whats the score ?" to a dirty sarcastic face !
The game was coming into the closing few mins and Stockley came over to take a throw in, fans obviously gave him abuse and he retaliated with more rude and nasty faces & gestures, this fan then tried to go for him and Rob Styles jumped in (whether the fan went for Styles or told him that Stockley spat i don't know) That wouldn't of supried me as Stockely really was an animal all afternoon and luckily lost ;)
The fan then got taken away (could be to report it) and the game has finished, everyone was very very pleased and a great afternoon was had by all.
I won't forget that day in a long time and my afternoon was topped off when i 1) say Eastwood on a127 and 2) Pulled up alongside the Col******r coach on the a127 to hoot and shout out the windows "yessss" "come on southend" "3-1" etc etc I was then even happier when i saw a upset looking stockley starring at us, we slowed down yet again to give some more hooting and throw our hands out the sunroof asif we had scored, super day and great banter !
Well done the blues, superb football, great noise and a great day
