Alex Woodyard

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but Woody is on trial with the Daggers, and featured in their 5-0 win over Dover at the weekend.

Good luck to him. Think he should drop down a league or 2 to get regular first team football. Also noticed that Duran Reynolds has been released from Daggers, did he even play a single game for them?

Would've liked him to have been given more of a chance here, some time out on loan and then I think he'd have been pushing for a place in our team, especially with the current shortage of CMs!

I really didn't think he was all that from what I saw. But what do I know I also thought Kightly was lightweight but he had talent was just too scrawny. Woodward just didn't look like a professional footballer to me.

Fair enough - people develop at different rates and different ages. I remember Justin Edinburgh going on loan to Spurs and coming back looking as if he had been on steroids - he bulked out.

Good move for him at a good level. Should do okay there. Hopefully see him back in the league at some point.

I agree I think a year at that level playing regular 1st team football will help his development. Ideally we should look to keep players like this under contract and loan them out to one of the local conference sides for a year or even 2.

Agreed but its all wages and as PB said it stops the development of other players such as Payne and Edwards.

Will probably play against us in the friendly, will be good to see him again. Was a good player in my eyes, didn't deserve to be let go

He didn't do anything to earn the right to stay. At some point you have to make a decision about whether he's worth a space in our small squad. IMO he was far too lightweight and didn't offer much, if that comes back to haunt us then that's the risk you take. We can't keep everyone to avoid another Kightly, it doesn't work like that.
