Manager⭐🦐
Sadly learned today, that Alan has had both his legs removed due to circulation issues. He is a scratch golfer, and I think went on to earn his living at a golf club after football.

He was a good servant for our club, and for those of us old enough to remember him, was a fine player.

I would like to wish him all the best for the future.

What tragic tragic news , I am sure that supporters of a certian age would put Alan down in there all time Southend teams . Alan was a great servant for the club I know he had a testermonial but surely the club should see if they could help out some how . Alan must be one of the most loyal players this club ever had . I wish him and his family all the best in the future .

Agree,..100%.....without doubt ,in our best ever team.Hope the club-fans can help

How terribly sad, in a time when the term "legend" is bandied about far too frequently, Moody's stats prove that he is well deserving of that label. One of our all time top players and one I remember well.

He attended a SUFC home match late the season before last. He was staying with a friend in Rayleigh, who was a season ticket holder in the East Stand. An excellent penalty taker,I can't remember him missing one. A solid defender who formed a cast iron partnership with Dave Cusack. He had moved back to Middlesborough to be near his daughter. He was the steward at Banstead Downs Golf Club in Surrey for many years. I wish him well in his recovery.

A bit of an understatement there PP, one of the finest players ever at this club. Best wishes to him

What a shame. I interviewed him for the LDV final fanzine. Such a nice bloke. Best player he played against? George Best.

An excellent & loyal player for the Blues. I remember he was granted a well earned testimonial ( against West Ham i think , we lost 5 or 6 nil ?) and i remember it was an amazing ovation he got as he walked around the pitch at the end. Fabulously reliable player , never made a mistake , his penalties were possibly the best we ve ever seen at Roots Hall.
I Hope the club do something for him to earn him a few quid to make him a little more comfortable...

I very much agree, Alan was a proper player and Mr Consistent too...Maybe Shrimperzone can do something for him too?

What awful news. He's one of the first players I remember watching as a kid. I always liked him.

Let's hope he gets back to some sort of normality as soon as possible.

An SUFC giant: 1972-84, 446 appearances 41 goals. Best wishes Alan.
