well we havent got a squad we have 2 central defenders 3 central midfielders in my eyes just aint enough for a long hard season esp with mccormack and maher always getting yellow cards!

What you have got to realise as stated this is the time for players to be on holiday so its hard to strike deals with players and staff who are on holiday. The transfer market hasn't even opened yet we have signed 1 player, these things don't happen over night. As from Charlie Mac who was going through talks after the Southampton game. This doesn't happen over night!

Steve Phones Charlie Mac's Agent "Would Charlie like to sign for us?"

Agent Replies "Yes"

Steve replies "OK See you tomorrow"

Next day we announce signing.

Football isn't like most industries though. Any player who we're going to be interested in isn't going to have to worry about being unemployed for long.

What do you mean a BIT too high! How can you argue we have missed out on him? We would never ever ever have been anywhere near signing him, not unless he'd lost a leg.

When will people realise how bloody hard it is to sign players. The amount of people that need to be contacted, the amount of people that have to agree to different things, it's just ridiculous to say 'why aren't we signing anyone?' Club X have signed Player X, why haven't we?' Free transfers are just as hard to bring in as players in a contract, and as for the Charlie Mac deal it started long before the end of the season. There will be movement in the transfer market for us, but it will take another couple of weeks before everything has gone through. Players are notified of any deal being struck whilst they are on holiday but understandably usually want to enjoy time with their families before they think about football again. Spoke to Christian Dailly today and he won't be coming here, just so you know.
