so we've had a few games with AB playing at Left Back... discuss!
ive gone for Bart, but only because i dont understand what it means!

Has anyone got the stats for when Barrett has played left-back?
I suspect they are rather good.
Same here.
In the last three games we've conceded only a freekick and a pen, neither of which he could have done anything about.
I think I'm right in saying that AB played left-back when we smashed QPR 5-0.
The only poor performance I can recall was against Orient in the JPT, and I wouldn't be too harsh over that one given the general chaos that was going on in the back line.

I'm not a fan of Barrett at left back - there were a few times on Saturday when Colchester came forward and there was literally oceans of space for their right sided midfielder to wander into - only tracking back by Moussa saved us a couple of times... that and their inability to put a decent cross in.
The stats look good for us when he is playing at left back, but I wonder if that is more down to the fact that we have a decent centre half playing instead of him in the middle? The last four games we have had Devitte who is a class act, and in the season we went up as Champions, I'd imagine most of those games were with Spinner and Efe at centre half - a pretty commanding pairing!!
I wonder how solid we would look if we had a natural left back playing, with Clarke and Devitte in the middle? Possibly, even stronger.
I'm not sure about this 1 because:
1) Herd at left back gave us an extra player going forward when he made his runs forward and when Francis was at right back we were much more attcking (even though we may have scored less)
2) We miss Johnny Herd's long throws, they could get a chance out of nothing and would have been useful in some recent matches
3) Adam is much stronger defensively and so is Sankofa and these two at full back have made the back four much solider
4) I don't know if dropping the captain would have an affect on the team as in some clubs where the captain has been dropped and coincedentally so have the teams results
5) Adam has more experience and this could be valuable at this point in the season in what could turn into a relegation dog fight
6) Peter Clarke plays much better at CB with Dorian Dervite
I would be happy with Adam at LB till the end of the season but we need to bring in another defender permanently in the summer
Great post, couldn't agree more. This is something Tilson should be thinking about in team selection. By all accounts he got it spot on on Saturday and we picked up 3 points along with the bragging rights, but in other occassions his got it wrong like Crewe and Yeovil at home for example.
Games like those we could put both Francis and Herd in for Sankofa and Barrett (Or maybe one of the other) to give us an attacking threat from the back as we have to force the play at home. JFC is another who is wasted in games like this. His distribution isn't brilliant, and his game is all about breaking up attacking threats from other teams. Yeovil and Crewe offered next to nothing going forward.
We could have a different team at home then we do away, not that it would help alot in consistency with the players around you and building partnerships etc but with a fully fit squad we could go with the following team away from home:
Mildenhall, Sankofa, Dervite, Clarke, Barrett, Grant, JFC, Macca, Moose, Laurent and Robinson.
At home we could go for something like:
Mildenhall, Francis, Dervite, Clarke, Herd/Barrett, Betsy/Scannell, Moose, Macca, Walker, Laurent and Robinson.
