Dick Bate's Protege

Just had Swissy phone me to warn everyone that the A13 is closed London bound by the M25 turn off, apparently its chaos. Might wanna take the A127 chaps.

I believe there was a fatality in the accident that caused the closure. Fortunately we saw the road warnings at turned off at the Orsett (rude word roundabout but you know where I mean!), drove to Upminster (the A128 was very slow) and got the tube from there. Took an hour all told to get there, and about 45 minutes to get home. Wasn't too chuffed at being charged £8 each for 4 stops return on the Tube though! Heard it took some 2 hours or more to get there.

Yep, took us 30 mins to get from the 127 to Upminster station, and about 3 mins to get from the station to the 127 on the way home :nope:

Yes there was a fatality, van driver.
According to the radio report this morning his van went straight into the back of a parked lorry as a result of swerving after hitting an electrical extension lead reel that was laying in the road. Sounds like a set of coincidences resulting in a tragedy for one poor chap and his family.
To put it into context we struggled to get to a football game on time or were a little late - he's never going to get to where he was going.....
White van man gets a lot of bad press but without the white van men out there this country would pretty much grind to a halt, sometimes this is the cost, RIP, mate; there but for the Grace of God go many of us.

TZ was £8 and we got there via a Wino Wanders thru Hornchurch and Heath Park. Lucky our Driver lives there as we got there even with traffic pdq.:winking:

The Smiffy fast wagon got us through the Hornchurch way to..mind you that is only because I knew the route.

kay, why an earth did you not ask for a lift home?

Fortunately, we did not leave till 6.20 and had been pre-warned so went along the A127 - took an hour.

My heart goes out to the person that died as in probability his family were expecting him home
