As many of you are aware, former player Micky Stead has found himself in a very sorry state healthwise, and for that reason we are putting on a benefit match under the SUEPA banner, via the Shrimpers Trust. This will be taking place on 20th October at our friends' ground at Bowers & Pitsea.
Full information can be found on the Trust dedicated page, including information about tickets - just £5 for adults and £2 for children - (advance ticket sales help us enormously!) and making a donation:
Apart from the amazing support we always get from former Southend legends, we are hopeful of a large number of former Spurs legends in attendance also, including Peter Taylor, Glenn Hoddle, John Pratt, Micky Hazard, Chris Hughton among others.
We know that there are a lot of diehard Southend United fans out there who are more than generous when it comes to stuff like this, so, for that reason, we are offering up some sponsorship deals as follows:
Ball sponsorship - this comes in at £220. For this, your company logo will appear on all the balls used at this event, and you will receive a signed ball back at the end of it. This one is probably our most important one at the moment, because of ordering the balls.
Post match refreshments - estimated at £100 for immediate post match recovery plus another £70 for platters. I partially covered the post match bits myself last year for the James Walker match, alongside James' mum's generous sandwich platters. Unfortunately not in a position to this time.
Emergency first aid cover - we have unfortunately, had to pay out for this this time around in the sum of £216. It would be great to get this, at least, partially covered by sponsorship.
Shirt sponsors - we will be offering individual player shirt sponsorship up in the coming weeks, please keep an eye on SUEPA social media for further information.
If we can get these larger items covered, we can get it included in the programme, which will be going to print very soon, so, if anyone knows of any companies who might be interested, please get in touch with @Suffolk Shrimper In Dorset or myself asap.

A Match For Micky
1. Introduction Micky Stead is one of our club greats, nearly 350 appearances from 1978 to 1985, he played his part in perhaps the most memorable night at Roots Hall ever and was a key player in our record-breaking 1980/81 campaign. However, back in April, he suddenly found himself in hospital...
