Inspired by the "Pocket Money for Kids" thread, I ask the ShrimperZone faithful: as a kid, which was your favourite comic and character?

I'm kicking off with the hard to beat Beano and Gnasher combo, the highlight of my childhood week when accompanied with a quarter of chocolate limes...

The Beano was indeed superb, although the Dandy was quite close.

I used to be an avid fan of Whizzer and Chips as well.

The Dandy never did it for me. Beano was the fail safe, with Beezer & Whizzer and Chips always provided as Christmas Annuals.

Slippy the snake from Whizzer and Chips.

I also liked Mr Kipling from Viz who's shtick was 'bowking a rich brown vomit well into the night'.

Could a mod please edit this poll and add an "OTHER" option so that our more geriatric users (you know who you are) can put down some of their pre-WW1 favourites...

Wouldn't want to exclude the old dears.

Done! .I can add Mayfair now ... :)

But it was The Menace for me in the Beano. Oh and the Bash Street Kids.

Yep, ROTR for me, as well as Tiger. Used to love reading them on a Saturday morning after doing my paper round.

I also used to like Commando - stories of us brits kicking Johnny Foreigners backside in WW2.

Did anyone ever read "Spike" magazine? I once won a "Wembley Skytrail" which was basically a frisbee with a bit of plastic attached to it. Heady days.

Used to get Beano on a Tuesday, and Dandy, Beezer and Whizzer and Chips on a Saturday. Always preferred Whizzer and Chips

anyone heard of Oink?
