750k For Cureton

TTS

Manager
..surely they are having a laugh.

The free Transfer signing , from Swindon, has just had the best season of his ENTIRE career at 31 years of age, and suddenly he is 'worth' 750k - sorry, whilst he looked good last season, but on the basis of his complete CV that price tag is laugable.

ill get shot down for saying this but why dont we go for him?

Doubt he will take the drop down to League 1 now because he had 'one' good season he thinks he is good enough for higher.

Sorry, but 750k for the top goal scorer in this league is hardly too much.

Theres complaints that Freddy at 1.25million isnt enough and whilst he has age on his side hasnt proven himself at this level.

2nd highest scorer in the Championship last year? A snip at 750K.

It took him 11 years as a professional to do this. Would be a snip if this record has the same record over 2 or 3 years.

Wolves offered 750 for Freddy, will they now think, ah we can have Cureton for the same price !!! NO

I take it back, just seen his full scoring history , 168 in 347 starts - LETS BUY HIM !!!

It seems a bargain, but looking at his career record most clubs would be frightened off...

He hasn't really settled anywhere, and where he hasn't got his way he hasn't performed. When Reading wouldn't let him go he "allegedly" refused to perform, and couldn't settle at Swindon... Still, £750k for a 31 year old Journeyman is good business for Colchester no matter how many goals he scored last season

Cureton was the best striker that I saw at the Hall last season. He only has 2 or 3 years left in him and I think £750K would be a bargain for someone like, say, Burnley or Preston, who aren't one of the "big" big clubs but are big enough to make an impact.

There are approximately 750,000 reasons why we won't go for him...

He used to play for Norwich at the beginning of his career and has been linked with them.

Personally I wouldn't rush into buying Cureton. He has had a very good season - the first really big season. How much was this to do with Col U gelling as a team and him forming a great relationship with Iwelumo. These are major factors to his success. If he moves there is a major question about whether he could reproduce this form again - especially the wrong side of 30. Big risk.

Cureton is looking for one last big contract.

At Layer Road he is half-way through a two year contract on 3K per week,he has been offered 5K per week to stay.

The problem is he knows that Iwelumo (his inferior former strike-partner) has just signed a 3 year deal paying 11K per week.

Just about every club in the Championship has been linked with him, I can see him going back to Norwich, he lives in Sudbury.

Col U also offered Big Chris 5K, but these days players seem to be insulted by such derisory terms.
