WE ALL MARCH TOGETHER
This July will see the arrival of our 5th annual SOL family day and for those already familiar with these events, you will of course need no introduction as they speak for themselves... right guys!
We don't have a date fixed yet but I am sure that once WINO has had enough of lounging around with his feet up and barking at Shadow to get a beer from the fridge, he'll get right on it. In the meantime, for those not too familiar with what our family days are all about and where we do them, they are normally held in a secluded location with hardly any rules restricting us... so except for clearing up our mess after ourselves, we are pretty much free to do what we want.
Football, sack races, high jinx, horsing around, mystery guests, raffle and so on. You're free to come and go as you wish and with our usual location, there are plenty of amenities within a short walk, so you can stock up on refreshments or just window shop.
The point of family day is to bring our members and their family/guests together, have a good time and raise money for charities. We don't set targets, but we do of course urge you to give if you can. There will be a raffle drawn by a Southend United player(s) and the prizes are generally pretty special... typically, they are football related, so there will be football shirts, goalkeeper's gloves and stuff like that donated by the football club, then bottles of wine or spirit and courtesy of one of our members, whose company has donated a star prize once again...
Dell Latitude D600 with Intel Centrino 1.6ghz Processor, 40gb HDD, 1.0gb RAM, On-Board Wireless, DVD Player & Windows XP.
Finished in Silver with black keyboard and mouse touchpad, this laptop comes with mains charger and carry case. I have an earlier model to this one at work and can recommend it. It is easy to connect to broadband wirelessly, so you can venture into your garden and soak up some rays whilst surfing Shrimpers-Online, or similarly, you can go for the mobile broadband option and be an "on the spot" SOL match reporter, just so long as you don't report during matches, because the football league might not be too impressed.
We appreciate that the SOL family day takes place as folk are contemplating their holidays and want to give more people the opportunity to participate and win one of the fantastic prizes we have on offer and in doing so, support one of the charitable causes we have adopted, which includes our favourite son Josh Tippet, who has been blighted with serious illnesses since birth and is constantly fighting infections and setbacks. We also consider Little Havens to be a very high profile and worthy cause, as they rely on public donations to run their hospices, who care for terminally ill children and their families.
We are not asking for you to buy raffle tickets right now, but if you are pretty certain that you are unlikely to be at our family day in July, or you are just simply in a giving mood, you can make a pledge to buy raffle tickets, either by posting under this topic or sending an administrator the details. We are also considering using the Pay-Pal facility on our main-page HERE and also in my signature.
There is of course no obligation to make a public donation, but anything you can give, will be appreciated and gratefully received.
Thanks.
