5 live Chelsea v Southend preview

After mentioning that we were playing Chelsea, there was not one single mention of us for the 4 or 5 minutes that they discussed the tie.

Similarly, when Mark Bright* did his preview on BBC London News this evening he wittered on about Chelsea but there was no mention of us, despite the fact that the BBC London area covers Southend too. Hardly surprising though.

*Worst. Sports Presenter. Ever. Yes, worse than Sally Gunnell.

They did mention us after a 5 minute report on SSN. Something along the lines of Drogba will being starting against Southend in the FA Cup!

Let them get on with it, as they won't stop mentioning it when we beat them tomorrow!! :finger:

"Ballack, Terry and Cech out tomorrow" just on 5live. Just talking about the game and the fact that chels' don't put fullbacks on each post at corners...

i think your find it was "Drogba will be loooking to add to hes tally saturday against league 1 (said it as if it was a joke) side southend united.

I am honestly quite offended, i know we are'nt a huge side or what ever but surely we deserve some respect, more so than what these previews and that or giving!

They did a nice feature on ITV at lunch time and they showed Freddies goal against MU.
It says Lee Sawyer is playing on Chelsea web site.

I must say the media coverage is very strange, almost non existant.

I had a quick scan of the sports pages of the red-tops today and I was slightly bemused to the lack of column inches thie tie has produced.

It seems to me that Chelsea V Southend is the Ginger stepchild of the third round and I cant for the life of me fathom why.

Couldnt agree more, you would think Chelsea being this so called "big club" (all though i for one cant stand them!) they would have made more of a deal of it, regardless the team they are playing. Still, wont let this f**k up our day!

For the 3rd time, we have a big feature inside the back page of the Mail today, focussed on Dougie.

5 Live this morning at about 8.30 read out a text from Jed (I think that was his name) from Brentwood, mentioning the 6,000 Southend fans going to Chelsea today and then in the following sports bulletin they played some comments from Tilly saying how we have nothing to lose and everything to gain and like I say it should be a great day for the players and the fans.

Its about interest though, i wouldn't think too much about respect etc.

Would more people buy a paper because it has a two page spread with Tilly than they would Big Phil?

Are more people going to tune in to watch Peter Clarke than John Terry?

The trouble is at this level people know a little about you already, if it was a non-league club it would be different and if it was at Roots Hall i would think it would be different too. Don't take it personally, just be content with the headlines tomorrow when you have cost Big Phil his job

Tilly and Barrett were pictured with the FA cup in the Mirror today with a short piece about Barrett missing the Man U game but looking forward to today's tie.
