Pre-Match Thread 4th Friends of Katie Cricket Match

Dear Zoners,

Just to let you know that the 4th Cricket Match in aid of Little Havens Hospice in memory of my daughter who passed away in 2008 is this Sunday at Little Baddow. Although the forecast is poor the day will still goes ahead, the bar will be open and we can remember Katie as we do every day. There will be music and refreshments plus Friends of Katie souvenirs so we aim to have a party whatever the weather.

The Zone and fellow Shrimpers were great to me when Katie died, loads of dosh was raised through the Zone, and I'll always be grateful for that. We are approaching £40,000 raised for LH in Katie's memory and hope to reach that total on Sunday.

There will be five Shrimpers in my team as we go for our 4th successive win against Katie's step Dad's XI. All are welcome at Little Baddow Cricket Club for the 2pm start and all the details are on our website.

Delighted to say that despite the weather meaning the cricket was abandoned we raised just under £1,500. A Neil Harris signed cherry voltage shirt was auctioned and helped towards our total.

We have now had all the money in from the day and, despite there being no cricket, we managed to raise £2,100 meaning the total we have raised in Katie's memory now stands at £43,000.

Also, the cricket has now been rearranged for Sunday 18th September at Litte Baddow CC.
