2025, the year of the Shrimpers ⭐🦐
As part of my fundraising for South East & Central Essex Mind and running the London Marathon for them ( https://2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/mikeedwards16 ), I’m looking into the possibility of doing another Roots Hall Run in February.

Last time around we had 56 runners taking part, and raised £355 from it, and this was on a match day. We had the likes of Justin Rees, Kevin Maher, Darren Currie, Mark Bentley, John White & Stef Russo all taking part.

I wanted to see if people would prefer this to take part on a match day again, potentially the 15th February before the Rochdale game, or the day after on the 16th February, the Sunday.

What would peoples preferences be, and is there an appetite to do this again, or is it better as a one off?

I felt like I missed out last time so would be interested. Two questions... I'm relatively fit, but never 'ran' before lol, will I die? Also, would it be suitable for my 8 year old?

I would choose the Sunday probably, as I'm usually on full childcare duties on Saturday's (depending on time) and I definitely don't think it'd be suitable for my 2 year old lol.

Haha, you’ll be fine. When we did it last time, it’s a 5km at your own pace. You can run or walk, and if you don’t want to do 5km you can cut it short, and as it’s laps around the pitch, you’re able to “drop out” on a lap at the designated area and then rejoin when you’ve got your 2nd/3rd/4th wind.

We had lots of children take part last time around, my eldest is 4 and he did 2 laps with me then sat with my wife, and my nephew who is 3 did one lap and then sat with my sister.

Some good feedback on social media for this, and I’ve dropped Rylee an email on this, but he is away until tomorrow. We are home Saturday so I imagine he’ll be busy when he gets back.

Will update more when I know more.
