2007 Football League Fans Survey

I've not seen any posts relating to this I don't think & it seemed to get a lot of attention when posted on here last year.

Football League Fans Survey 2007

Some interesting questions this year I thought (some of my answers may have been biased due to my hatred of Karl Duguid) plus you can enter a draw to win £250.

Some stupid questions.

The LDV winner getting in the playoffs is probably the most absurd.

Should the offside rule apply only to the penalty area jeez, that would be fun watching strikers just standing on the edge of the penalty area for 90 minutes....

Penalty shootouts instead of draws ?

4 points for an away win ?

Stick to the Budweiser please.....

I dont think there were any stupid questions, although there were plenty of things that I would never like to see happen.

A bye to the third round of the Carling Cup is a good idea for the winners of the JPT.

I think that a 4th official with video to officiate on goal line decisions, penalties and sendings off (like the official in Cricket) is a good idea.

Restricting agents is a good idea, as is bringing in a rule that a certain number of players of every club should be home grown - between 3 and 5. If we'd had that rule we'd probably be benefitting from Michael Kightly in the team - and we might never have let Neil Harris go (among others)...

:)

Mostly stupid questions aimed at stupid, blinkered/The ref is a cheat 'cos I'm a Gooner who can't believe that any decision would go against us /The ref is a cheat 'cos I'm a Prawn Sandiwch Manc Fan from Surrey/The ref is a cheat 'cos I'm a Chelski fan and didn't take our offer of millions of roubles to see things our way.

More importantly it's a email harvesting questionaire as without a valid email address on the last page you can't complete the survey. Ignore unless you want to get spammed to high heaven.

I don't know whether thats a real survey, but either way I think it brings up some interesting issues. Personally I'm in favour of television replays. Not just on the goal line either. I'd pretty much have the entire match refereed from a TV studio ahead of the muppet in the middle. The idea that offsides are decided by a middle-aged bloke with a bit of fabric in his hand running up and down a line trying to look in two places at once seems stupid to me. Its the 21st Century now, not the 19th.

I quite like the idea of penalties for a bonus point after the game too. I've never thought of that one before. And four points for an away win could have as big an impact on the attitude of clubs as three points for a win did. On a related point, I don't see why any team should get a point for a 0-0 draw. If you can't score in 90 minutes then you don't deserve a point, in my opinion.

I didn't like any of the suggestions for the Football League Trophy, but our runs to Cardiff certainly gave me a new-found respect for it as a competition. I'd love to see the winners get rewarded somehow - maybe a place in the Intertoto Cup?

That isnt true. You only give your email address if you want to be entered into the 'thankyou' draw. You dont have to.

Also, the questionnaire is on a legitimate site from a pucker QM provider.

If you dont wish to take part, fine, but there is nothing dodgy about it.

I couldn't have put it better myself.......

Having a set amount of homegrown players is an awful idea. Instead there should be wage incentives paid for by Prem clubs who insist on playing loads of foreign players.

"Sorry, but we really need you to answer this question before we can go on with the questionnaire."

Without an email address, you can't continue with the questionnaire ... what's after this point then?

Not worried, just loathe to give out an email address that will ultimately be sold to weight-loss, hair restoration, penis extension companies.

Anyway, how do they know?!

;)

Thats crazy talk!. You havent got an american accent but you must be an american surely ?

Next you'll be advocating 4 quarters instead of 2 halves, You get two "goals" for shooting outside the penalty area, bigger goals. And multiballs, yeah thats what you want mutliballs.

God I wish they would leave the game alone, like the offside rule for example. Ruined now, completely ruined. Put it back like it was in the old days, that will make the game far better again. You know, when you can only be onside if you have the keeper, two defenders a linesman and a member of your immediate family in front of you when the ball is played (and you have to ask the opposition keeper if he is ready before playing the ball).

Whatever next !

Off to lie down.

PS In seriousness, please change offside so the linesmen raise the flag immediately not when the player touches it, the delays ALWAYS cause fans to think its a late decision and is a pain in the backside!

Yes indeed, what horrible options there were in there!!

4 points for an away win, stupid!!

Couple of things I'd like to see;
1. Penalties as per shoot out - either you score or you don't, it would stop encroachment which all referees seem to ignore anyway.
2. A 35 yard line so a law would be similar to ice-hockey, in that you can't play the puck directly from your own third to your opponents. \it would stop the 'big boot' down the middle.

Oh and more English players! That's why England are so poor at the moment, our Prem' is full of foreigners. I don't think ****nal played a single Brit yesterday.

:D

I don't think football should ever be afraid of looking to improve itself. If everyone took that attitude we'd still have two points for a win, keepers would be picking up 30 backpasses a match and defenders would be free to haul down any forward heading towards goal.

Yesterday summed up for me why we need television replays. Frankly I have no faith in any referee or linesman to get even basic decisions right.
