    Best Pot Noodle flavour.

For me it has to be Chow Mein although I haven't tried some of the newer flavours. I am a big fan of instant noodles, especially the cheap ones from Chinese Supermarkets where you have to guess the flavour from the picture on the front and those ones that come in flying saucer shape plastic bowls.
  2. Supermarkets

I'd thought I'd resist as this is so far away from the once legendary DTS Friday polls as you can probably get ....but I guess we've all got old! So, where do you purchase your weekly shop? Used to be Tesco for me (only as its the nearest), but I'm a recent Lidl convert. Genuinely like the...
  3. Coca cola the £5 bottle!

2 litres of diet coke in most shops around £1.50 in supermarkets around £1 ,in the club box a cool fiver! £300 for the box £100 bar bill The pain for a friendly ! Still we have tried it and whilst great fun was a tad expensive, shudder to think if we had food as well ,we would have required a...

    Veggie sausages!

Maybe a bizarre post but few years back I had some veggie sausages in Swanage. They were like spring rolls, full of bean sprouts. I have looked for similar in various supermarkets but can't find anything like them. Anyone know where to find them? (I said it was a bizarre post!)

  6. Asda

I was just wondering if anybody picked up on the news yesterday with regards to the announcement by Asda that they will be expanding their presence in the UK by opening circa 300+ new stores (largely in the South of England)? Apparently this is at odd with the current strategy of the rest of...
  7. Is timing against sufc again regarding the new ground?

This morning I have just been listening to the Radio 4 News Programme. The head of Northern Foods said that the time of the very large supermarkets has gone. This is after Morrison stated it had lost a great deal of money during the previous year. It was going to reduce it's prices to complete...

    High Street Crisis

    The Pub

Not this on-line pub but "the" English pub. RIP? I guess most of you guys visit the hostelry occasionally. For how long is that going to be possible other than via faceless characterless town centre mega-pubs? There was a programme on the radio last night about locals taking over their own...

What have you watched on TV?

As the original thread was lost in the ether after SZ's unexpected 'holiday', I thought it would be a good idea to kick it off again with Xmas TV upon us. Thoughts on the new series of Peep Show? Did anybody see Panorama last night on supermarkets/farming etc? On Tuesday I finally caught a...

    A Bit of Fun Sturrock & Widdrington/Players...

Another twist in the story....possible Sainsbury's takeover!!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/epic/sbry/7878028/Sainsburys-shares-rise-5pc-on-Qatari-bid-speculation.html If the takeover does go ahead this summer, what will this mean for the new stadium development? Could we be the second non-premiership club to have rich arab backers...

    World cup beer deals

Is it just me or are the supermarkets not giving beer away like they used to? Anyone spotted any good continental strength bottled beer offers? Cheers.

Question Is paying in bags of coppers pikey?

My last weeks in this god forsaken bank that I work for are really dragging. I am basically not allowed to see customers in case I try and poach them yet the still expect the normal hours of work. Every other financial insitute would give you gardening leave but not my money grabbing lot...

    Addlestones cider

I was wondering if you have come across bottles of Addlestones cider on your travels through the off licenses and supermarkets of Essex? I have inquired via Addlestones direct and all the wholesalers etc are northern. I have found it on Beers of Europe for £23 a case but wondered if cheaper...

Supermarkets - What can be done to control their power?

I've worked at, and for, a supermarket in the past and at first I thought all the scaremongering about 'Supermarket Power' was merely that. However, right now there are many, many things are I am becoming increasingly disillusioned by: • Supermarkets initially made money by using brands to get...
