At least these highlights show Hayes was not in a bad position and had no chance. Ball was 10ft high when it went over him.
Yes, he had too much space but Hayes should have attacked the ball and punched it away or adjusted his positioning, stepped back and tipped it over or caught it. You can’t stand there and do nothing. But he did make a good save later on, so it wasn’t all bad.Not sure the goalkeeper could do much about that to be honest (which is different to what I thought yesterday).
Poor defending to allow the player to come in and get the shot/cross off.
It's surely got to be time goading of another side's fans must stop.As soon as their 39 received the ball i was shouting get into him Gus, then watched as we give him the freedom of Roots Hall to score a worldy into the net. Looked to me like it was intended, the amount of time he was afforded to pick out that top corner unbelievable. I wasnt expecting Hayes to get to it from the moment it left the strikers boot.
And how one of our defenders didnt go straight through him at any point all game, after the 39 ran to us in the NB and was giving it proper, i will never know.
Just taking the **** isnt it.
Hard to tell how close it was to Hayes, but I think the fact he just watches it (not for the first time) with no attempt to put his arm up really doesn’t help!

A yellow card minimum should be the penalty, because there will be a serious incident sooner or later.
I noticed a plastic (?) bottle hurled in his direction, but a glass one and a hit could take out an eye.
'Unsportsmanlike behaviour' is part of the laws, and a yellow can easily be applied.
Yes, not the first time we've seen this kind of goading this season. Refs are too lax. With a crowd the size of ours, that is dangerous and clear incitement. It's surely got to be time goading of another side's fans must stop.
