Make him more inclined to sell up. Show him that fans will not accept the way the club is run and will take action.
At the moment he is under zero customer pressure. It's almost unbelievable how lucky he has been to get away with this for so long.
As I’ve said to you previously, I do think he’s inclined to sell up. The problem is attracting buyers. I believe that we came close back in October, although the two parties couldn’t agree with their respective valuations.
It’s possible that Ron writing off £6m worth of debt, was an act of good faith towards bringing those valuations closer.
Ultimately, the planning permission is worth fortunes, and I do believe that we will have suitors if/when we achieve it.
And on the flip side, the club is worthless without it. We have no assets, a crumbling stadium & debts coming out of the wazoo.
What options does Ron have? Sell the club on the cheap and potentially lose millions. Can you see him doing that, even with a bit of fan pressure? It’d be easier for him to place us into administration, claim back as much as he can, and then liquidate the club.
The other option he has, is to soldier on until the club receives that planning permission. At that point, he can either do what he’s been threatening to do for 20 years, or sell up to someone who will deliver it.
Right now, we hold no real power. We could boycott, sure. But then he just places the club into admin, as I said.
Some will say that’s fine, and dream of playing in the Bostik leagues, or whatever tier it may be, but Ron will still ultimately walk away with millions.
Some might say that was his ultimate goal, and that you’re playing into his hands, by trying to strongarm him into making a decision.
Believe me, this isn’t a defence of Ron. I made my feelings well known on this forum, ten years ago when it was as an unpopular thing to do. The best chance we have of Ron leaving this club, is if we get planning permission for this move.
Personally, I believe that if/when that happens, we’ll all be drinking Amstel and celebrating in our windmills.
