Work to commence on CC Lounge at Roots hall

Just spotted this on LinkedIn - looks like the upgrading of Roots Hall is about to begin with one of the lounges. Looks like the bottom right picture was from last Saturday’s programme which confirms they’re about to upgrade the Centre Circle lounge which will be renamed the D2 Lounge and is available to book from Boxing Day.

Very interesting. The rendering looks good. It might seem out of place at RH, but a promising start I would say.

We’re excited to be starting on the new lounge at Southend United designed and installed by D2 Design and Build, as we come off of our recently completed install at the o2 on the premium landing points…

This one is very close to our hearts with Southend United being our local club, joinery is currently being manufactured ready for install. We can’t wait to show the finished project.

So it's a renovation of the Centre Circle Lounge, to be open in time for Boxing Day. A quick and simple job that will get some extra money coming in short term, many years before there will be a chance to replace the East Stand - I wouldn't assume it precludes the latter. Tidy.

Though for some reason the third graphic makes it look like it'll be in the NW corner which, well, would be a surprise for a number of reasons.

Interesting that this is happening before the takeover is complete. I assume this is costing the club nothing and the sponsor is covering the whole cost?

As @North Banker says this looks to be a facelift to an existing area & having worked with shopfitters before I know how good they can make a frontage look but very little cost irrespective of what's behind the facade.

Can't see any downside here as this is probably a sponsorship deal but more importantly it's a local company wanting to do business with the club. With the consortium hopefully not that far in the future this can only be the start of rebuilding the clubs reputation.

Don't forget anything like this, which as Hooly says is a relatively inexpensive renovation of an existing space, has been off the table for years as Ron poured all his efforts into Fossetts. Now we know Fossetts is off the table, we can start to make some simple but important changes. Combined with the willingness of local companies to be associated with us again once you know who is out of the picture, we'll hopefully see more and more of this sort of thing.

Excellent.

So going by the 3rd picture down, the view outside the window looks like the North bank, which means the works will be in the West stand - Result.

So the West stand is getting a new re developed lounge.

But i could be wrong. :)

I am pretty confident that the East Stand will definitely be refurbished not rebuilt. Additional income streams are vital, if we are to become a sustainable business. Fancy this is only the start and more will follow.

I doubt the existing steel frame would be able to take the loads of the Precast concrete planks used to take the seats these days. Also allegedly the stand is riddled with asbestos, so probably more cost effective to demolish and start again in the long term.
